The U.N. - It Is Not Worth It To U.S. Anymore

Our country spent over Half a Billion Dollars in 2009, which is 22% of the United Nations regular budget. Not only are we not getting the proper respect and representation we deserve from this organization, the agenda of the U.N. is becoming increasingly hostile to the principles and liberties we are able to enjoy in this great country. The recent appointment in April of Iran to the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women was the first blow.  The Iranian Regime does not believe in gender equality. Now the OIC, which is the Organization of the Islamic Conference, pushed through a  resolution that creates a watchdog to monitor how religion is portrayed in the media.  The United Nations Council Backs Censorship Watchdog explains that the OIC has gained tremendous sway in the United Nations. This is a direct violation of the First Amendment of our Constitution. They have also appointed a Cuban and an anti-American politician to the Human Rights Council and Advisory Council.

The Bush Administration refused to participate and boycotted the U. N.'s Human Rights Council because China, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and other countries have abysmal human rights records. The Obama Administration, under U. N. Ambassador Susan Rice, has said that they have participated in order to strengthen and reform the Human Rights Council.

We are being used! It is time to get out of the U. N., and get the U. N. out of America!
