Are you a felon?

In an article from The Foundry by Conn Carroll today, he describes the plight of Abner Schoenwetter, a businessman who since 1986 has been distributing seafood throughout the country, caught in an arbitrary legal battle that resulted in him being sent to prison for 6 years. From 2000 to 2007, Congress has created 452 entirely new crimes, and civil liberties attorney Harry Silvergate estimates that the average working American unknowingly commits three felonies per day. This attempt to "criminalize" activities without our being duly informed of such new laws is a sobering thought in today's atmosphere of the ever watchful eye of "big brother".
